Aplysia toxin:

Aplysia is a hermaphrodite creature that lives on the seabed with a naked body. The male and female reproductive pores are connected by an egg-sperm groove. There are currently more than 3,000 known species of this magical animal, distributed in various sea areas around the world. Scientists have extracted a kind of "aplysia toxin" from the body of Aplysia hares, and through animal experiments, they believe it can be used as an anti-cancer agent. This preparation only kills cancer cells and is non-toxic to normal cells. The emergence of Aplysia's anti-cancer preparations made Aplysia famous. The origin of Aplysia toxin: One of the marine biotoxins, it was found in the digestive glands of the algae-eating mollusc Aplysia longus, hence the name Aplysia toxin. It is a linear depsipeptide natural cytotoxic protein with very low content in organisms. Has high anti-cancer effect.

Aplysia toxin structure:

It is a nonapeptide that is present in very small amounts in organisms. So far, 18 shorter chain peptide compounds containing special amino acids have been identified and named dolastatin 1 to 18. Among them, the structures of Dolastatin3, Dolastatin10 (D10), and Dolastatin15 were determined. D10 is the most studied one, and D10 is generally used as the representative of Aplysia toxin. Introduction to Dolastatin10: D10 is a linear depsipeptide natural cytotoxic protein composed of 4 amino acids, containing 9 asymmetric carbon atoms, starting from the amino end, dolavaline (Dov), valine, dolaisoleuine (Dil), dolaproine (Dap) ) 4 amino acids and the specific primary amine dolaphenie (Doe) that may be separated from phenylalanine are condensed at the carboxyl end, so some researchers call it a 5-peptide product with a relative molecular mass of 784. D10 has a series of isomers, some of which have biological effects. The production of natural D-10 is extremely small, and existing synthesis methods and routes are limited to laboratory scale and cannot meet the growing demand. The fundamental reason lies in the inability to efficiently stereoselectively synthesize the most complex component of D-10, namely Dolaproine (Dap) with three chiral centers.
